PSCC in bandit country.

As the 11 Penn street gentlemen awoke on Sunday morning a shiver of anticipation ran up there freshly pressed pajama covered spines. Was today a day to teach the rogues and reprobates of or poorer neighboring village a lesson in gentlemanly conduct, class, refinement and good Christian values?

Apparently not.

As soon as the 11 valiant gents arrived they were bombarded with whines, whinges and excuses from those devilish cads and rapscallions, “to ot ‘t’ play cricki” “am not bowlin in dis” they moaned. After a closed negotiation our courageous and valiant leader Nicko allowed those working class chappies to have a bat and it began.

The faithful two took the ball and made their marks. Great spells from Paul “chocking death” Goodchild & Jack “finny” Mendy soon had the opening pair in trouble. Soon enough HGCC were two down for not a lot. Enter the Holmer Green sloggers. A bombardment of agricultural oiks began. Good length balls were sent many a mile as the sun carried on sapping the effort of our lads. Grant and Nick took the brunt of the bullying until grant decided enough was enough and popped his gentlemanly conduct in his pocket and peppered the batsman with a clutch of chin height snorters. Time for a little witchcraft and wizardry from Mr. P Lofty he looped swooped and popped the ball around to bag us 3 wickets, whilst Callum tempted the batsman outside the off-stump to little avail.

Holmer green finished with a strong 224 for 8.

Tea was an occasion but least said about chocolate finger and coronation chicken sandwiches the better.

Time for us to bat. Our metro-sexual style guru Matt “the model” Reavey opened with his style mentor Dave “loppy” Lander the two were instantly pushed back with an array of short pitched bodyline bowling. After a swift negotiation in the middle they decided to throw form to the wind and take runs on the leg side. Unfortunately for Dave he was dismissed by a good ball and left the pitch for a refreshing shower. Stevie “Usain Bolt” Smith refused to drop form and hit run on the leg side rigidly sticking to the forward press and expertly guided edges. But before he could get settled Steve too was sent to sit upon the grass. Time for a Fletch to try his luck. Before long fletch was in need of a spare pair of pants as a super speed ball bumped into the face of his bat mere inches in front of his teeth. After a few overs playing and missing outside off stump he started to time a few shots but before he reached a fifty mile stone he too was out. Enter the skip Nick and talisman Jack. The two of them began to pull the game in sight but then they brought on the fierce opener who ended our day leaving our seasoned stayer goody to finish on another not out Washington Hayford securely in his sights.
